However, we can say that the defining characteristic of a random event is its unpredictability.

In other words, if one cannot predict the outcome of a die roll or predict that a given side will turn up with greater probability than any other side, then the dice roll is random and we would call it a fair dice. No matter how many dice rolls you observe from our virtual dice roller, you will not improve your chances of guessing the die side which will turn up on the next roll figuratively speaking. A virtual dice roll performed by a computer will usually be more balanced than a roll using a physical mass-produced die.

Most manufacturers of physical dice cannot deliver a perfectly uniform distribution of the mass of the die in its entire volume, nor can they guarantee perfectly symmetric thickness of each side, and in some cases slight imperfections in the die shape are also possible.

Due to this, the vast majority of the time you will find a digital die like our random dice roller to be truly random whereas an actual dice, being a flawed physical object, will tend to exhibit small bias.
